Terms of Use

1. This agreement

These Terms of Use are an agreement between you and Nikhil Kumar Rajak (“Sopanio”, “we”, “us”), who runs Sopanio. By using Sopanio or signing in, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use Sopanio.

These Terms are an electronic record under the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the rules made under it, and are published in line with rule 3(1) of the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021. They don't need a physical or digital signature.

2. Who can use Sopanio

You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding contract under Indian law. Use Sopanio for your own job search, with your own Google account.

3. What Sopanio is, and isn't

Sopanio is a free tool that lists job openings employers have published publicly on their own careers pages, shows how well they fit you, and helps you track applications, goals and contacts.

• We are not an employer, recruiter, placement agency or agent of any employer listed. We aren't part of any hiring decision, we don't receive or forward applications, and we don't promise interviews or jobs.
• We never charge job seekers anything. If anyone asks you for money in Sopanio's name, it isn't us: please tell us, and report it at cybercrime.gov.in or on the helpline 1930.
• A company being listed doesn't mean it knows about, endorses or works with Sopanio.

4. Job listings and matches

Listings come from information employers publish publicly. They may be incomplete, out of date or wrong, or the job may already be filled or closed. The employer's own posting is the only authoritative version. You apply on the employer's site, under the employer's terms, and it's up to you to check an opportunity before you share information or accept anything.

Match, Maybe and Ruled out, summaries, filters and reminders are produced automatically, partly with AI. They can be wrong and are not career, legal or financial advice.

5. Your account

You sign in with Google. Keep your Google account secure: you're responsible for what happens under your Sopanio account. Give accurate information, and tell us at nikhilrajak.dev@gmail.com if you think someone else has used your account. You can delete your account at any time in Settings.

6. What you add

You keep ownership of everything you add: your profile, resume details, notes, goals and contacts. You give us a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free permission to store and process it only to provide Sopanio to you. That permission ends when you delete the item or your account, apart from the short-lived backups described in the Privacy Policy.

You're responsible for what you add, and you must have the right to add it, including any personal data about other people.

7. Rules for using Sopanio

You agree not to:

• break any law, or use Sopanio for fraud, impersonation, harassment or spam;
• add or share anything that is unlawful, defamatory, obscene, invasive of someone's privacy, harmful to children, infringing of anyone's intellectual property, misleading, threatening to India's unity, integrity, security or public order, or that contains malware; or anything else rule 3(1)(b) of the IT Rules, 2021 prohibits;
• add another person's resume or personal data without their permission;
• scrape, crawl, copy or bulk-download Sopanio's listings or data, or use them to build a competing product (downloading your own data is fine);
• test, get around or break our security or usage limits, access anyone else's data, or overload the service;
• create accounts or use AI features by automated means;
• misrepresent who you are or who you're connected to;
• reverse engineer Sopanio, except where the law allows it.

We may remove content, limit features or suspend accounts that break these rules.

8. Company names, logos and trademarks

Company names, logos and trademarks shown on Sopanio belong to their owners. We show them only to identify the employer that published a job listing, as a descriptive reference in line with honest practices (Section 30 of the Trade Marks Act, 1999). We don't use them in advertising, change them beyond resizing, or claim any rights in them.

Showing a name or logo does not mean its owner sponsors, endorses or is affiliated with Sopanio. Owners can ask us to remove or change a name, logo or listing at any time; see For companies.

9. Reporting content and takedowns

If you believe something on Sopanio infringes your rights (such as copyright, a trademark or your privacy), is wrong, or is unlawful, write to nikhilrajak.dev@gmail.com with:

1. your name and how to contact you;
2. the page or content (a link is best);
3. what's wrong, and the right involved;
4. a statement that the information is accurate and that you are the owner or allowed to act for them.

We acknowledge within 24 hours and act on valid requests within 72 hours, or sooner where the law or a court or government order requires. If a request turns out to be mistaken, we may restore the content. We close the accounts of people who repeatedly infringe others' rights.

10. Other websites

Sopanio links to employers' websites and other sites we don't control. Their own terms and privacy policies apply there, and we aren't responsible for their content, practices or availability.

11. Our name, logo and content

The Sopanio name and logo, the design of the site, our own text and software, and the way listings are selected and arranged belong to us or the people who licensed them to us. Please don't use them without our written permission, except to link to Sopanio.

12. Changes to the service

Sopanio is free, and we may change, pause or stop any feature, or the whole service, at any time. We don't promise it will always be available or error-free. Before closing the service we will try to give notice and a chance to download your data.

13. Disclaimers

As far as the law allows, Sopanio is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, including about the accuracy, completeness or availability of listings, or their fitness for any purpose. Nothing in these Terms takes away rights you have under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019 or any other law that can't be excluded.

14. Limits on our liability

As far as the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for lost opportunities, jobs, income or data, arising from your use of Sopanio, the listings, or other websites we link to.

Our total liability to you for all claims about Sopanio is limited to ₹1,000. None of this limits liability for fraud, or any liability that can't be limited under Indian law.

15. Your responsibility to us

If someone makes a claim against us because you broke these Terms or the law, or because of something you added to Sopanio, you agree to cover our reasonable losses and costs, to the extent they were caused by you.

16. Ending this agreement

You can stop using Sopanio and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these Terms, when the law requires, or to protect other users or the service; where reasonable we'll tell you why. The sections on company names, our rights, disclaimers, liability, your responsibility, and disputes continue to apply after the agreement ends.

17. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of India. If you have a problem, please write to us first; we will try to sort it out within 30 days. If we can't, the courts at Jamshedpur, India have exclusive jurisdiction, without affecting any right you have under consumer protection law to bring a complaint where you live.

18. Grievance Officer

In line with rule 3(2) of the IT Rules, 2021, complaints about Sopanio, its content or these Terms can be sent to our Grievance Officer:

We acknowledge complaints within 24 hours and resolve them within 15 days.

19. General

These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about Sopanio. If any part is found unenforceable, the rest still applies. If we don't enforce a right straight away, we haven't given it up. You may not transfer your rights under these Terms; we may transfer ours if Sopanio changes hands, and will tell you if that happens. We aren't responsible for delays or failures caused by events outside our reasonable control.

We may update these Terms. We'll change the effective date above and, for important changes, tell you in the app or by email before they take effect. If you keep using Sopanio after that, the new Terms apply.
